Estimating is 75% math and 25% art. Each new job has to be looked at through the lens of past jobs and current costs. You need to consider the customer. You need to go back and look at every job to see where you were right and where you were wrong and then adjust the next estimate to reflect your new-found knowledge. You can use square-foot estimating effectively in some circumstances, unit pricing in others, but there is really no substitute for getting prices on the job. We’ll talk about the best approaches to help ensure a profit on every job.
