Sam Rashkin, Retooling the U.S. Housing Industry
Why housing disruption is coming to a housing industry near you
Virtually every major industry has experienced, or is in the process of experiencing, massive disruption. Think retail, personal transportation, automobiles, computing, music, photography, media, and the list goes on and on. Housing has been able to sit on the sidelines with its first-cost dominated business model and uniquely disaggregated industry…but not for much longer. That’s because there are five crises making disruption an imperative and four disruptions that will transform an industry totally resistant to change. Will you be ready?

Justin Wilson, Construction Instruction
The only constant is change – turn up the pace of innovation
Change can impact our business in many ways, but in most every instance, it can be a positive. We will examine Justin’s nearly 30 year journey through the home building industry and discover what changed to improve the energy efficiency, durability, indoor air quality, and comfort of our houses. We are certain that new houses will be constructed to be net zero energy users in the coming years, with a greater attention to building resiliency and multi-generational occupancy. Many of these trends will impact the remodeling industry as well, while our existing housing stock falls further behind the new homes of the future. We know the science and we have the materials and tools to create zero-energy, zero-defect-homes that are nearly cost neutral in the process, the next step is to simply do it.
